Engagement Session on the Draft Statistics Bill 202X (Sesi Libat Urus Penggubalan RUU Statistik 202X) organized by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) Perak for the Northern Zone

Kedah Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KICCI) members participated in the Engagement Session on the Draft Statistics Bill 202X (Sesi Libat Urus Penggubalan RUU Statistik 202X) organized by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) Perak for the Northern Zone, held at Hotel Kinta Riverfront, Ipoh, on 14 October 2025 (Tuesday). The session was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chief Statistician of Malaysia.

This engagement aims to enhance understanding and awareness among stakeholders on the importance of data, DOSM’s evolving roles, and the impact of the upcoming Statistics Bill on the National Statistical System. It also serves to gather feedback and support for the review of the Statistics Act 1965 [Act 415] and the finalization of the Statistics Bill 2025 in line with current needs.

DOSM data is an invaluable resource that supports informed business decisions, including:

1️⃣ Population & Demographics – Identifying business concentrations and growth areas.

2️⃣ SME & Business Statistics – Understanding sectoral trends and new opportunities.

3️⃣ Employment & Income Data – Planning workforce development and training needs.

4️⃣ Trade & Industry Trends – Tracking economic performance across sectors.

5️⃣ Cost of Living & Inflation Data – Setting pricing strategies and assessing consumer spending.

6️⃣ Government Planning Reference – Strengthening proposals, reports, and grant applications with credible data.

On Monday, 13 October 2025, the President of the Kedah Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KICCI), Shreekanth Sibastin along with KICCI members, attend the Launch Ceremony of the Malaysian Mental Health Association (Kedah Branch) and the Official Launch of the Book “Mental Health and Society”.

Kedah Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KICCI) members attended the Sesi Libat Urus bagi Penetapan Dasar Rang Undang-Undang Pendanaan Politik Peringkat Negeri Kedah dan Perlis on Monday, 22 September 2025, held at Hotel Grand Alora, Kedah, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

This important engagement session provided a platform for stakeholders to contribute to the development of a transparent and accountable framework for state-level political funding.

This informative session aimed to raise awareness among the Kedah business community on the latest developments and scope expansion of the SST, enhancing compliance and business readiness.

We conduct the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between KICCI and Asbenz Motors Sdn Bhd 🤝 — forging a strategic alliance to create greater business growth opportunities, foster collaboration, and bring premium automotive solutions closer to our members and the wider business community.
